Educational Foundation & Philosophy
I have a master’s degree in Contemplative Psychotherapy and Buddhist Psychology from Naropa University, a unique program that blends Western therapeutic practices with Eastern mindfulness traditions. I was drawn to Naropa for its focus on the humanity of both the therapist and the client, and its emphasis on the therapeutic relationship as central to healing.
My personal journey with meditation and mindfulness began at age 12, in an after-school program that taught yoga, breathing, and mindfulness techniques—practices that have since become foundational in my life and work. These tools have been life-saving for me, guiding my decision to pursue a program that deeply valued self-awareness, compassion, and the client’s innate capacity for healing.
Professional Experience & Focus
Hospice and Elder Care
I began in hospice as a volunteer and later worked professionally, supporting clients and families during the end of life. These experiences deepened my belief in the power of being fully present with people, especially during life’s most vulnerable moments.
When you are dying, there isn’t a whole lot of room for bullsh*t. It helped me clarify my own priorities and embrace the impermanent, fragile nature of life, which I integrate into my clinical work today, regardless of the stage of life my clients are in.
Sex and Porn Addiction Treatment
During my clinical training, I worked at a sex addiction treatment center, which led me to develop a compassionate approach that goes beyond traditional methods. I focus on helping clients untangle their struggles, with mindfulness and self-compassion at the center.
I believe that by adopting the contemplative style, we can help clients disentangle internalized beliefs about addiction, as well as about substance use or sex, and avoid common pitfalls in treatment, allowing for growth and healing. I wrote about this in my master’s thesis.
Crisis Intervention
My time at a 24/7 crisis center exposed me to a wide range of urgent challenges, including substance abuse and suicidal thoughts. I’ve learned that the best way to help is to stay curious, flexible, and meet people exactly where they are, without judgment.
Whatever you bring to our sessions, you can rely on me to maintain an open, nonjudgmental stance, ensuring that I remain present and of genuine benefit to each client.
My Approach to Therapy
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and trauma-informed, grounded in the belief that true healing arises from a genuine, trusting connection between two people. I aim to honor each client’s unique experiences while fostering resilience, personal growth, and deeper connections with themselves and others.
Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, compulsive behaviors, intimacy concerns, or navigating major life changes, I’m here to support you.
